Our History

Mardi Gras Parade Bands is a 3rd generation family business. Begun by Professor Harry Mendelson, Sr, the organization is deeply rooted in the creation and growth of the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition.  Professor Mendelson, a musician by training and profession, helped create numerous parades in the New Orleans area.  Naturally, he worked to recruit bands, marching units and more to participate in the cities festivities.  Upon his death, the tradition fell to his daughter, Musette Gonzales who expanded and improved the family business for over 40 years.

In the summer of 2013, Musette retired, transferring the business to the 3rd generation.  Musette's son, Michael, and his wife, Christa, took over the reigns and are working to build and improve upon the family business for years to come!
